12 Rock Star

I am amazed the song Rock Star by Hole has held up so well over the past 10 years.  This is such a great song.  It is still one of my favorite songs of the 90s.  Whenever I hear it I turn it all the way up and sing along.

I think this album, Live Through This, is the last grunge album.  It was released just days before Kurt Cobain died.  This is the point where the early 90s and the focus on Generation X started to come to a close.  In 1995 the biggest musical acts where Ace of Base, Coolie, and Hootie & The Blowfish.  Since I was in college during the whole grunge era, it is somewhat important to me. 

I love the lyrics of this song.  They still speak to me:

When I went to school in olympia
And everyones the same
We look the same
We talk the same

Even when we try to make ourselves different, we end up making ourselves the same.

11 A World of Hurt

Sometimes I hear a song and it just clicks.  The song sings about a truth that is deep inside of you.  Everytime you hear it you think it is just a little more true.  The Drive By Trucks song World Of Hurt is one of those songs.  It is making a strong case for being my song of
